How the time slips away when life happens. It’s not that I haven’t been posting on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram. The convenience of social media in posting a quick picture and a brief description of what’s happening makes blogging seem like a chore.
However, I would like to remind people that a simple, real human is alive on the other side of this screen. I still want to share my passion of the night sky, especially since it is a natural resource that frequently gets taken for grated. Seems even more likely in the light of recent world events, that going outside may be taboo. Everyone has been consumed by the COVID-19 crisis, but I hope that hasn’t dissuaded you from going outside, and being amazed by the beauty of the universe.
Public outreach has been a no go due to social distancing. Hopefully things will be changing soon. Astronomy lends itself to social distancing, but in the end, for the most part anyways, we remain social creatures, and for some reason, sharing with others just seems to make things even more enjoyable.
Maybe you have had a chance to slow down, but in case you haven’t, just do it. Time is something you never get back, so take it while you can. Share something beautiful, say something beautiful, and be kind to one another. And never stop looking up!
